Compared to the others, I found topix.net to be the easiest to use. Navigation was easy and searching was simple. This is very important to me. I have visited the site a few times since I found it and I've never been disapointed with my results. I'm sure if I were searching for some obscure information I wouldn't have such great results, however, the others probably wouldn't give any results either.

Pandora is great. wish my computer had better speakers. i live close to wrat 95.9 so that is the only station i can pick up. maybe i need a better stereo system.

this tool is very similar to MS Word and that is good. Not having to learn a new word processing tool is good. This can be used in any shared editing situation.

Sandbox. very easy to use. Could be a useful tool, for example, multiple people using it to edit a document. I prefer the real kind of sand in a sandbox. I like to build castles and bury people in a hole, maybe get a tan.

I am not a real big fan of wikis. I think that many readers take what is written (maybe biased) as the truth. Because wikis don't have the authority that other materials have they can be misleading. There are too many other great sources out there to have to rely on wikis.

first I read Away from the Icebergs and I feel that if you know who your users are and what they want you will be able to provide materials that they want. Now this is not as easy as it sounds (if it sounds easy at all). It takes teamwork and the ability to review the information and a way to implement the results. I think it is worth it. Librarians have a better sense of what the collection has to offer.
The next article I read was Into a new world of librarianship. I agree with what the author Michael Stephens writes. Wouldn't it be great if we lived and worked in his world. I feel that traditionally non library users would become users if Mr. Stephens ideal library existed everywhere.

I checked out some popular blogs, however, I would rather do my own searches instead of relying on others. Sometimes I feel that there is too much useless stuff to sift through in order to get to the gold. I don't have that kind of time on my hands. I can see how users would enjoy it.

I like del.icio.us. the idea of having a portable favorites list is great. wish I'd thought of it. Frequently I am working on a computer other than my own and want to access my favorites list. Del.icio.us makes this possible. OCL should consider having a del.icio.us list on all staff reference computers, some sort of one stop shopping.

I like worldcat. It is very helpful to be able to search many cataloges at the same time instead of having to go to each individual library and repeat the search. However, when filling out an ILL slip, because worldcat doesn't have the cost of the item ,it requires going to amazon or a similar bookseller.

Netlibrary is great. Everything about netlibrary is easy. Finding book, viewing books, etc. I have shown many customers how to create an account and how to navigate netlibrary.
I have found many titles on Project Gutenberg that I was unable to locate elsewhere.
Both are very valuable.

Library thing is a great way of keeping track of what you read or have in your library at home. I like it, I wish I had the time to load my collection.

e-books
I think that e-books are the future of books. I would love to travel w/an e-book reader and have several different books loaded.
I can also see that as the population ages (baby boomers) and their vision becomes impaired, it may be a good idea to get e-books instead of buying large print books. How about loading a series onto one reader, that way the series can be read in order.

I can see how an rss feed can be useful, however, I personally prefer to go directly to the website and get the info. Often I find important info by browsing sites. Maybe this will change my mind.
